As the winter mercato continues, new names keep being mentioned as potential targets for Lazio. The latest player to seem to be attracting the attention of Tare and Lotito is Emiliano Insua. Currently playing for Sporting Lisbon, one of the opponents of Lazio in the Europa League, Insua was brought in this season from Liverpool, to which the player belonged 2007-2011. The player has failed to impress in Portugal however, with having featured in only nine games so far this season. At the English giants the previous Boca Juniors player never made the impact that he was hoping to do and he was loaned to Galatasaray last season where he played alongside Lazio player Lorik Cana, but the Turkish giants chose to not use the buyout clause that was included in the loan contract.
The left back is seen as a back up and potential replacement to Stefan Radu, who is expected to be looking at a switch to the central defense would the transfer of Insua happen, as well as giving Edy Reja quality competition on that position as well. €4.5 million is the transfer fee being mentioned in media and Lazio are looking for a six months long loan deal with the option to sign the permanently in the summer.
