17/02/2012: Reja: Atletico deserved the victory

After last night’s loss to Atletico Madrid Lazio coach Edy Reja spoke for “I’m very sorry for the goals conceded in the small penalty area, but I have to be objective and say Atletico were better than us and deserved to win. With a little more attention we could fix the problems, but I would have liked to deal with Atletico with all players. When you change too often 2-3 players in one department it’s difficult to find the right rhythm. The only solution is to recover the injured players to be more competitive and to have more available replacements. If we recover some players for the return leg it’s going to be fine, but when you lose 3:1 at home it’s going to be difficult. I wanted to ask the federation for a postponement of our game after the return leg in Madrid so we can gather some energy. I don’t know if this can happen, but we want the federation to give us a hand” – added the coach.

Another tough task lies ahead for Reja as Lazio has to travel to Palermo. “I hope some of the players will recover for the game. We are going to play on a very difficult field. I hope we are going to have four defenders for that game. The players need to rest. I can’t expect them to run every three games.” – said Reja.

His problems in the back line are huge as Konko and Diakhite are both suspended due to red cards, Radu is injured and Biava picked up a muscular problem last night against Atletico Madrid, leaving Reja to deal with Zauri, Stankevicius and a freshly recovered Dias.
