22/03/2011: Matuzalem hit with 4-match ban
email print
Lazio's Francelino Matuzalem has been handed a hefty Serie A ban following his clash with Cesena's Luis Jimenez.

The Brazilian midfielder has been disciplined for violent behaviour and, like many before him this season, has been suspended for three Serie A games. He is also required to serve a mandatory one-match ban for an accumulation of yellow cards.

As a result, he will miss the home tie against Parma and the tricky away fixtures against Napoli, Catania and Inter.

SS Lazio have the option of appealing the ban, but given the nature of the offense and the presence of TV evidence in the case, it is perhaps unlikely that the club will take any further action.
