09/07/2012: Auronzo di Cadore: Day One
email print

The staff and players of S.S. Lazio have arrived in Auronzo di Cadore for pre-season training. As expected, new coach Vladimir Petkovic brought a squad of 29 players along for the trip and there were no surprises. Pasquale Foggia, Marius Stankevicius and Giuseppe Sculli have been left out as they are on the transfer list while only Eddy Onazi and Antonio Rozzi were promoted from the Primavera, as LazioLand.com reported last week. Zarate, Floccari and Stendardo were all convened. Brocchi and Radu miss out through injury while Miroslav Klose is on vacation having spent the month of June on national duty.

The squad has been released on the club's official website and it goes as follows:

Goalkeepers: Berardi, Bizzarri, Carrizo, Marchetti

Defenders: Biava, Cavanda, Diakitè, Dias, Garrido, Konko, Scaloni, Stendardo, Zauri

Midfielders: Cana, Candreva, Ederson, Gonzalez, Hernanes, Ledesma, Lulic, Matuzalem, Mauri, Onazi

Forwards: Alfaro, Floccari, Kozak, Rocchi, Rozzi, Zarate

At the moment the squad is three men short. Carrizo and Gonzalez should join up with the group tomorrow as they need to sort some administration issues out but Matuzalem has no such excuse. He is AWOL in Brazil.

Training lasted 40 minutes today after rain forced the players into the gym halfway through the session. Strength training was the objective today but when asked about his training regime, Petkovic remained coy and gave away very little saying that the players would 'see a lot of tactics'.
