Lazio captain Tommaso Rocchi spoke to media this evening from Auronzo di Cadore where the players began training surprisingly with a run at 7 A.M.
"The Wake Up and running straight to the forest is a new thing. Surely (fitness) is the most important thing to do in retirement. It will be an important preparation, where we will work a lot. It will give us a base to do well throughout the year. Clearly it's tiring, but these are the things that lead to better results. The aim is always to do well."
Rocchi then gave his first impression on Petkovic: "He is nice person, he is very well presented, clear and direct. The important thing is to work to the best of our ability with mutual respect. The staff is very knowledgeable, very attentive and even outside the field in everything we do."
Rocchi went on to give his personal goals for the season: "Personally I want to reach beyond Giordano and then who else is ahead of me on the list of all time goalscorers in the history of this team. I want to play as much as possible to try to help out the team. The group objective is to reach the Champions League. We must have a winning attitude, be offensive and always be able to impose our game. The company is doing everything possible to improve the team."
Rocchi was asked about his teammates starting with Mauri, who is still to learn his fate from calcio scommese. "He has lived through a difficult situation, but he is calm. He only thinks to play football and do well for Lazio. Hopefully the situation will be resolved as soon as possible. If someone wrong has been done it is right that you take your own responsibility."
On Ederson, Rocchi commented, "Definitely better at talking than Dias - Rocchi joked - he's very sweet, he has been inserted well and is a talented player. I think he is a quality player, a major purchase that will give something to the team."
Zarate has returned to Lazio, Rocchi said, "I think he has matured. He has always had the quality, but often this is not enough. Unfortunately, he may have lacked continuity. Problmes in the locker room? There have never been any problems. Sometimes something happened at the behavioral level, but he knows this, but I repeat that there has never been any problems with the team.
Finally Rocchi was asked about possible tactics for the new season: "It is still not decided, with the tactics and formations, but we have seen how to play with and without the ball. We have seen the effect of pressing aggressively to recover possession of the ball."
