15/07/2012: Auronzo di Cadore: Day Seven
email print

Sunday - a rest day for the players, on the pitch at least. Tonight was the night that the team was officially presented for the locals at Auronzo di Cadore. It was a relatively low-key affair as the camp appears to be more stable than it has been in previous years.

The players' names were called out one-by-one to rapturous appluase in the vast majority of cases. The club will be relieved that Antonio Candreva is still well received in the off-season but it became clear that any departure for Mauro Zarate will be deeply unpopular this summer. Kids were chanting his name and the applause was notably louder.

Vladimir Petkovic and his staff were shown a similar level of gratitude but Claudio Lotito was not. Luckily for him, he wasn't there as boos rang out at his absence. The boos directed towards the management were heard at other points of the ceremony but all in all it was a rather respectful affair.

Petkovic was clear and concise with his short speech. He praised the work of the team and expressed his happiness with the squad, insisting that any additions could only boost the quality of the team. He told the crowd that he has worked in many countries attemting to refine his footballing philosophy and he praised the setup at Auronzo di Cadore.
