19/07/2012: Auronzo Di Cadore: Day Eleven
email print

Day eleven and normal services resumes after yesterday's eventful evening session. Vladimir Petkovic takes a step back for the beginning of the session, handing the reins to his assistant Manicone who asks the players to move the bal quickly between confined spaces. Later in the session the groups are divided into teams of five and six to play a match where each player is limited to a maximum of three touches. Eventually a 11-a-side game commences and the purpose of this particular game seemed to be an experiment with the positioning of the strikers. Mauro Zarate was noted to have played primarily in a deeper role.

Albano Bizzarri was absent from training this morning but for legitimate reasons. He had some back pain in training yesterday and it appears as though he was given a day to rest it and ensure no more damage is done. During the session, Giuseppe Biava pulled up with a groin complaint while Lionel Scaloni has been sent back to Rome with his injury. The medical team are confident that Biava, Bizzarri and Ederson will all return before the squad departs on the 26th July and so they continue in the setup.

In the evening session, there was not much to note. Petkovic continued to play 6 v 6. There was nothing to note about these games - it seemed to be a simple matter of getting the players as much time on the ball as possible. After training, random doping tests were carried out on the players.
