"I feel good, there have only been ten days of preparation, but I'm beginning to be prepared for a really high level of competition. I feel good in this role, I've always played in it and I'm happy."

There have been rumours of late of a few big teams being interested in Hernanes: " They talk a lot there is no contact. I'm happy here with Lazio, I have a contract until 2015. For the moment I can only say this. It a very sensitive subject, so far there is nothing."

The Lazio under Petkovic is very proactive, tending to attack: "What I liked most is that the coach wants you to play fast passes, without seeking long balls. I enjoy playing like this more because we have more ball possession and our features go well with this game."

The Brazilian was then asked who he thought is stronger between Lazio and Roma: "We are competing as we finished above them last season. We changed some things, we'll see how it goes."

Mauro Zarate has impressed since returning to Lazio, Hernanes was asked his thoughts: "It is too early to say anything about him, but I already know he's a great player. His preparation is going very well and if he manages to keep this desire and dedication he will help us greatly in the season."

A great prospect who has been catching the eye is Eddy Onazi, on which Hernanes comments: "He's strong. I don't need much time to recognise a great player. Even last year I saw he had great potential. We will see with the matches at a higher level, but I hope and pray that he can become a great player."

Lazio will be looking to improve and surely cannot miss the Champions League again this year: "What I have in mind, my goal is for us to be a more mature team. We have a chance and we must not waste it. We must be focused and careful not to let it go one more time."
