After a well visited event at Formello last night where the new Macron kits were presented, players and management traveled the short way to Fiuggi and after a dinner and a good night's sleep the second stage of the preparation for the upcoming season continued. Earlier it had been thought that the camp would be lasting until August 7, but after having booked a friendly against Galatasaray in Turkey on August 4 it has been decided that the team will not travel back to Fiuggi after the game, but rather to Formello.
The team entered the pitch around 10 o’clock for the first of two sessions of the day. Plenty of fans were present and chants were heard through the hour and a half, something that Ederson were quick to praise on Twitter. The Brazilian is slowly getting back to full training after the injury picked up when in Auronzo di Cadore and together with a returning Miroslav Klose the two players were training under the surveillance of the medical team. The German seems to be in top shape considering the participation in the EURO2012 and will shortly be ready for regular training.
Meanwhile, Petkovic and Ringoni spent most of today letting the players get back to training mode after having been spending time off the pitch and together with family and friends the last few days. Interestingly enough it was again 4-4-2 that was tested during the 10 on 10 game that was played during the afternoon gathering, with the most observant noticing that Lulic was played as left back and Cana again occupying a position in the centre of defense during the activities in the morning session.
According to reports Petkovic is planning to field Radu in the centre of the back four when the Romanian is again available, so finding a solid solution for the left hand side seems to have emerged as the main priority. Before letting the players get some rest ahead of the lunch Biava and Dias were seen listening intensively to Petkovic’s instructions for how he wants the defenders to act when on and off the ball, indicating his first choice for the moment and for the centre of defense.
In the afternoon the staff focused on the physical fitness of the players. Short rushes, work on pace as well as stamina, influenced most of the afternoon, before it was again decided for some friendly 10 on 10 before the end of today’s training. Kozak and Mauri were free players and could be added to any of the teams, with the two teams being made up of Berardi, Konko, Stendardo, Biava, Garrido, Gonzalez, Cana, Hernanes, Rozzi, Alfaro and Zarate versus Carrizo, Zauri, Dias, Scaloni, Cavanda, Lulic, Ledesma, Onazi, Candreva, Floccari and Rocchi. The game was won 4-1 by the former selection, with Hernanes and Alfaro netting one time each and Kozak getting two, while the sole goal of the losing selection was scored by Rocchi.
