According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, most likely Zarate will leave Lazio in January. A decision has made by mutual agreement between related parties. Palermo and Genoa are interested in Zarate. Palermo also dealing with the Lazio midfielder Matuzalem.

Zarate does not want to stay in Italy and has stated his desire to go abroad, preferably Spain or England. The problems are no serious offers come from those leagues, except for a preliminary survey made by Malaga.

The more advances interest has been made by Spartak and CSKA in Russia, the teams that can afford transfer fee requested by President Lotito, which is not less than €8 million for permanent ownership.

With Lazio, Zarate won the Coppa Italia during his first season. At the end of his debut season, his move to Lazio was made permanent for a fee of around €20 million, with a €60 million buy-out clause.
