30/06/2013: Matavz open to Lazio move

With deals for Felipe Anderson and Lucas Biglia pending, and with Empoli's Elseid Hysaj the priority for the wing-back position, the media's attention is turning to Lazio's search for a new striker. Petkovic requested one new recruit in his forward line last summer and two, if possible. In the end, he got none and Claudio Lotito and Igli Tare are expected to up their efforts to grant Petkovic's wishes in the coming days.

At the moment, Lazio are tied up with the situations of their current strikers. Zarate is trying to rescing his contract through the legal system, Floccari is discussing a contract renewal but is being closely monitored by Bologna at the same time while Libor Kozak is a target for Udinese, Chievo Verona, Hellas Verona and Livorno. The player himself has admitted that he wants to leave Lazio.

Once the situations come closer to being resolved, Lazio will need to find suitable solutions. Juventus' Alessandro Matri is much admired but comes at a hefty price and the back-up plan is supposedly Tim Matavz. It has emerged in the Corriere dello Sport this morning that Matavz has informed his club of his desire to leave and that, should an offer come along, he will choose Lazio.

Other options include Heerenveen's Alfreo Finnbogason, who hit 24 goals in 31 games in the Eredivisie this season, Carlos Bacca, who hit 27 in the Belgian league for Club Brugge and Denis Stracqualursi, the towering Argentine who was on loan at Everton during the 2011-12 season before returning to Argentina with San Lorenzo.
