  13/07/2013: Ederson: "I would like number 10"

Lazio midfielder Ederson has spoken to the media over his excitement at the new season. The Brazilian spent most of last season injured but claims that he expects the worst to be behind him and in effect can be like a new signing to Lazio. Ederson told LazioStyleChannel:

"I feel great, and I know that the fans are concerned about the injuries I had last year but they must be calm. It was an accident. In ten years I have never had so much trouble. Unfortunately last year I skipped the preparation for a knee injury. This year I will be more careful and play with both the heart and the head."

Ederson also claimed that given the chance, he would like to wear the number 10 shirt for Lazio this season:

"Everyone knows that I like the number 10. I had it with the under-17 national team when we won the World Cup and also with Nice and Lyon. It has always brought me good luck. I made it known to the company and we will see what happens. If I have the number 10, I'll be happy."

Lazio play Juventus in the Supercoppa next month, a match Ederson would like to make an impact on:

"There is still a month, but it will pass quickly. We are preparing for a tough game, we want to give our best and win another trophy. We ask the fans to stay close to us and encourage us, we play at the Olimpico so we must use this factor to win the Cup."

"The coach knows me well now. We've worked together for a year now, he knows he can count on me for what ever the team needs. My natural role however, that where I am most at ease, is behind the strikers or even as a second striker."
