23/07/2013: Auronzo di Cadore: Day 12

Having played two games in two days and with a packed schedule ahead, Vladimir Petkovic decided to give the vast majority of players the morning off from training. In fact, the only unfortunate ones were Lucas Biglia, Albano Bizzarri and Luis Pedro Cavanda. As Cavanda and Biglia only joined their teammates in Auronzo di Cadore on Friday, they are behind with their preparation and they were playing catch-up yesterday morning. Bizzarri on the other hand has had issues with his elbow and this was an opportunity to monitor him closely as Lazio try to get him back to full fitness. Marius Stankevicius appeared in the gym later in the morning, although why he appeared in the gym is not clear and he was joined by Director of Sport Igli Tare soon after. In the end, all five of the aforementioned individuals were working out in the gym.

At 5pm, the evening session kicked off and joining in with his teammates was Felipe Anderson, who has been suffering from an ankle injury and is now on the road to recovery. Petkovic began the session by focusing on ball possession before dividing the team into groups and asking particular groups to focus on particular exercises. Some were working on improving their movement, others on their stamina and some would practicing in front of goal, hitting shots, delivering crosses, trying to convert opportunities. Finally, Petkovic initiates seven-a-side games by creating three teams and rotating them with Biglia acting as the substitute. It is pleasantly surprising that Biglia is already in good enough shape to take part in these more advanced workouts.

At 7.15pm, the session was brought to a close with the warm-down.
