40 minutes prior to the morning session, Felipe Anderson took to the field. The Brazilian is putting some extra work in order to speed up his recovery from a sprained ankle.

The remainder of the Lazio squad began training at 10am as usual. Petkovic divided the team into three groups and conducted some ball possession drills. 20 minutes later, Petkovic asks the coaches to put the players through some obstacles, upping the intensity of the session.

Petkovic begins a practice match at 10.45am and his squad selection suggests that a hierarchy is developing at Auronzo di Cadore. He pitted two separate teams against each other, using a 3-5-2 system for both sides

Team one; Biava, Dias and Ciani, Stankevicius, Onazi, Biglia, Cataldi, Lulic, Klose, Floccari.

Team two; Novaretti, Cana, Radu, Konko, Ederson, Ledesma, Mauri, Vinicius, Kozak, Keita.

Keita, Vinicius and Cataldi were initially preferred to Antic, Tounkara, Rozzi and Crecco who all took part in separate shooting practice. They were joined by Luis Pedro Cavanda who is simply not in correct shape to play much of a role. Despite this, there was some rotation during the game and everyone got their chance eventually. Interestingly, the only senior player to be substituted was Libor Kozak.

The evening session took up a similar format. There were some movement and ball possession exercises to begin with before another practice match took place. On one side, the 3-5-2 was tested yet again while the opposition shaped up in a 3-4-2-1. It seems clear that Petkovic intends to go with a back three this season but what is not clear at this early stage is how the forward line will look. At 7pm, training was brought to a close for another day.
