02/08/2013: 6 month ban for Mauri
email print

Lazio captain Stefano Mauri has been banned for 6 months. The verdict was released today following delays and the sentence was as expected.

Lazioland reported midweek that the club would be likely to escape a points penalty and that Mauri will get a 6 month ban for failure to report suspicious behavior. Lazio were handed a 40,000 Euro fine.

Lazio and Mauri will no doubt appeal against the decision to reduce the player's ban. It is a very similar case to Napoli and Cannavaro. Cannavaro had initially been given a 6 month ban for the same reason but later had it revoked on appeal.
