  22/08/2013: Celtic chase Ciani
email print

The French press have speculated in recent weeks that Michael Ciani could be about to leave the Italian capital. It did not go unnoticed that the ex-Bordeaux centre-back did not feature against Crystal Palace in a pre-season game that was widely seen as a dry run for the Supercoppa Italiana. If that omission reflects his current status at Lazio, Ciani is viewed as Lazio's fifth choice at centre-back.

The media in France claimed that Ciani did not play because of the interest from Celtic and that S.S. Lazio had given the Frenchman permission to talk to the Scottish champions. Following Celtic's embarrassing 2-0 loss to Kazakhstani side Shakhter Karagandy in Champions League qualifying, the need for a defender has seemingly increased and the Italian press suggest that Ciani is now the primary target.
