02/10/2013: Mauri ban extended to 9 months
email print

Stefano Mauri was hoping the Federal Court of Justice would acknowledge his innocence in the Calcioscommesse scandal and allow the Italian midfielder and Lazio captain to return to action, but the second stage of the process has not been favourable to Stefano.

Mauri was asked to tell his side of the story today and a verdict was expected in the coming days but rather surprisingly, a decision was reached this evening.

The verdict is that Mauri will now serve a 9-month ban as opposed to a 6-month ban for failure to report to the relevant authorities that the Lazio - Genoa match on the 11 May 2011 was fixed.
