The president of CONI (Italian Olympic Committee), Gianni Petrucci, has responded to Lotito's call to form a special committee to monitor the last six weeks of Serie A.

Speaking to Repubblica, Petrucci said: "Everyone knows the respect I have for Lotito, but this talk of a committee to monitor the games in the last six weeks is non-sense. I believe in the institutions of our football association, and this talk of targeted mistakes against anyone is inexistent. I say this with a smile and I hope Lotito will not be offended."

Asked about his opinion of this season's Serie A, Petrucci said: "It is a very beautiful season, many teams are fighting for the title, and many others for the Champions League qualification. I guess this is the best season in the many years that have passed."
