Speaking to Repubblica Sport, Vladimir Petkovic discussed his sides upcoming home clash against relegation battlers Livorno and his position at the club.
"I still believe in my team. In recent weeks the media and some people have questioned by ability as a coach and whether I am the right man to lead Lazio", Petkovic said.
Some have suggested that today could be the very last press conference for Petkovic as the coach of the Biancocelesti. A defeat against Livorno at the Stadio Olimpico could potentially lead to his dismissal by President Claudio Lotito.
"This is all part of football. I live each day as if I had ten years of work left in this team, but I am willing to accept my fate. If I am dismissed I would accept it, but I remain hopeful. I am sure that we can get out of this situation as a group"; says Petkovic.
A convincing victory against the Tuscans would make Petkovic’s situation in Rome slightly more stable and secure. He feels confident of his side gaining full points against Livorno; "For me the situation does not change anything. I am preparing my team the same way I always have. We must take all three points and we need to win at all costs".
When asked how he will approach Livorno he stated; "They are a great opponent with some very talented players. We must score goals and we need to be practical and cynical because they can hurt us. I believe in my team and I am sure that a positive result tomorrow will really help us to get out of this situation"; concluded Petkovic.
Several reports around Rome are suggesting that Petkovic will play a 4-1-4-1 formation: Marchetti; Konko, Cana, Dias, Radu; Ledesma; Candreva, Onazi, Hernanes, Lulic; Klose.
