  19/01/2014: Djordjevic in, Quagliarella out?

Il Messaggero are reporting that Filip Djordjevic’s imminent move to Lazio in July will halt the Roman club’s pursuit of Fabio Quagliarella.

Djordevic’s agent Alessandro Lucci today confirmed that despite pressure from Inter for his clients signature this January, the Serbian international will sign an official agreement with Lazio in February. The contract will tie the striker down to Lazio for 5 years until the end of June 2019, which will see him earn approximately 1.2 million Euros annually plus bonuses .

This all means that Claudio Lotito’s pursuit of Quagliarella is very likely to end. Several reports in the past few days had stated that the striker had agreed personal terms with the Biancocelesti, but that nothing had been reached between the two clubs. Lotito was keen to take the player out on loan for 5 months with an option to buy at the end of the season, whereas Juventus wanted a straight transfer.

Edy Reja has been promised additions by Lotito this month and with just over 10 days left of the transfer period, time is ticking for the President. The winter transfer market is always unpredictable and Lotito could still yet bring in Quagliarella by the end of this month, but the feeling is that once Djordjevic is officially confirmed no other strikers will be brought in.
