23/01/2014: Ciani to Norwich on the cards

Several sources, including Correire dello Sport and Gazzetta, are reporting that Norwich City are on the verge of signing Michael Ciani from Lazio.

The Roman club are yet to confirm the negotiations, but the English side are confident they can land the big French defender before the winter mercato closes. Canaries boss Chris Hughton is an admirer of the player and is looking for several reinforcements this January as his side battle against relegation.

Ciani is under contractwith Lazio until the summer but it looks unlikely that he will be offered a new contract. Norwich are reportedly ready to offer up to 2.5 million Euros for his services, and if those reports are believed to be true, then Lotito may well be tempted to let the former Bordeaux man go.

In all likelihood, Ciani may play
his last game for Lazio against league leaders Juventus this weekend.
