After failing to sign Matri, Quagliarella and Anelka, Lazio president Claudio Lotito turned to Valencia’s 31-year old striker Helder Postiga as a replacement for Sergio Floccari who is on the verge of signing a contract with Sassuolo. Ciani is also rumoured to be on his way to Norwich.
Postiga is a strong and tall striker who is born 1982 (31) but has great qualities. It’s certainly a name that will meet Edoardo Reja’s demands for a quality striker. So far Lazio has had a bad transfer market because, having had many negotiations take place, there are still no new players at the club and it’s already January 28. It is rumoured that Lotito started negotiations with Valencia for Postiga a couple of days ago. He wants to sign the player on loan until the end of the season with an option to buy him in the summer. The Spanish club are ready to listen to any offers because of their financial problems and will probably be ok to let their player go on loan to Lazio so that they won’t have to pay his salary. Lotito and Tare are working hard to make things happen and to bring the Portugal national team striker as soon as possible.
Valencia have put a price tag of 3 million euro for their player while Lotito is willing to give 2 million. There will be a meeting at Formello where everything about this transfer will be discussed. Claudio Lotito thinks that the transfer can be finalized in the next couple of days. Helder Postiga who won the UEFA Cup with Porto would be open to a transfer to Rome. His salary won’t be a problem, a bit less than 2 million euro but it will be paid at this rate only until the summer when a new salary will be discussed. Thursday will be the D-day for the transfer when Valencia’s representatives will be in Milan.
Lazio’s goalkeeping problem is also something worth talking about. It is widely rumoured that Milan want Marchetti as their new #1 keeper and Mariano Andujar who already signed a contract with Napoli for next season is rumoured to be Lazio’s main target for Marchetti’s replacement. This means that the Argentine keeper can only come on loan until the end of the season. Andujar’s arrival can mean only one thing – Marchetti will be sold. Lazio have two good keepers (Berisha and Marchetti) so if they are looking to sign another one that would mean that a sale will take place. Answers about these transfers are expected tomorrow.
