28/01/2014: Reja confirms Postiga and Pasalic interest

Edy Reja has been brutally honest in his latest press conference where he has laid the club's transfer strategy and his plans for Napoli:

"I do not want to change players, but I have to. The doctor has told me that Klose has had a bad night with a virus. I told him [Klose] to forget tomorrow, let's focus on Sunday. This morning, Hernanes was seen by physiotherapists. I have no alternatives but Keita and Perea."

The above statement suggested Floccari, who has been linked to Sassuolo, will not be available. When asked if Floccari was leaving to be replaced by Postiga, Reja commented on Postiga but failed to mention Floccari's future:

"We have been following Postiga for a week; Anelka was a red herring. It is our attention to take someone who is an international, who I can rely on and who can play with Klose. I do not know if the deal is done, but it was in the pipeline last night."

When asked about Marchetti's future, Reja indicated that he would stay but also hinted that there is a need for a third goalkeeper with Catania's Mariano Andujar expected to move to Rome for five months:

"I can guarantee that Marchetti will be here at least until the summer, then there are scenarios you cannot prepare for. Each team needs three goalkeepers of the same level, but we have to wait on Strakosha. We are in the Europa League and Coppa Italia and I need insurance. There are three days left in the market, injuries are always around the corner and I need three goalkeepers of a certain level. I hope you realise this."

Asked about the club's interest in Pasalic:

"I know him [Pasalic], I have good memories of him and every so often, I go to the games. Good on a technical level, less so tactically. Good player, an all-round midfielder, not very fast, but elegant. 18 years-old, might be suitable for the Primavera, not sure he is ready for the first team. If the company take him having watched him, I will be happy."

Edy Reja also confirmed in his press conference that Marchetti has not recovered sufficiently from a virus to play tomorrow and suggested that Paolo Cannavaro is a possibility only if Lazio offload one of their existing centre-backs.
