  16/03/2014: "We want to build a strong and competitive team": Reja

In a time that Lazio is struggling, Europe appears a distant dream and the fans are increasingly expressing their dissatisfaction with Lotito, Edy Reja has stated in his latest press conference that the future should be bright for the first team of Rome.

"We already have some young players who are flourishing and they will be part of our rebuilding phase", stated Reja.

recent years Lazio has done well with young players coming through under the guidance of both Bollini and Inzaghi. The management is working on retaining the best young players we have in order to have a more competitive Lazio in the future".

The idea is to operate and act on quality players aged between 24 and 27 who are at the height of their career opportunities and skills. I can assure you that this is the plan for the club”.

"We are considering several players
at the moment all around the football world. We are almost at the end of the season but the club is already moving forward and thinking about the summer mercato, next season and beyond that", claimed Reja.

Reja was then asked about the present situation Lazio is in and the potential to qualify for European competition next season;

The next match against Cagliari will be important. It will be like a final for us. We no longer have other commitments this season (eliminated from the Coppa Italia and Europa League) so we cannot fail and we must be in the Europa League position at the end of the season".

"We must give our best to
qualify for Europe as the club places a lot of value on it. We have another 11 games left and we need to address them in the best way possible".

"When I came back here I believed I could
take the club back to Europe, and I still do. So far we are doing well and have collected an average of 2 points per game and if we continue this way we can do it. But we cannot fail. I did not come back to Lazio to fail in race for Europe and say nothing", concluded Reja.
