  19/03/2014: Real reject Rozzi

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Real Madrid will decline to make an offer for Antonio Rozzi once his loan spell with the Spanish giants concludes at the end of the season.

Rozzi was controversially sent on loan to Real Madrid in the summer with an 18 million buyout clause set for his purchase. Both Rozzi and Italian Director of Sport, Igli Tare insisted that the clause would ensure the 19 year-old striker's return to the capital at the end of the season, and that statement is now ringing true.

However, the loan spell has not gone as expected. Rozzi was placed at Real Madrid Castilla, who play in the Segunda División, the Spanish equivalent of Serie A. He started Real Madrid Castilla's first three league games, but has not started in any of the last 27 as Real Madrid's reserves struggle to remain in the division. In fact, Rozzi has not even been called up to the squad for any of the club's previous ten league games.

He has lost his spot in the Italian U21 side as a result and according to
Gazzetta dello Sport, Lazio are now unsure of what to do with him. The initial idea was to get him ready for Serie A-level football but with Keita Balde Diao making the grade and with Mamadou Tounkara and Joseph Marie Minala in waiting, Rozzi could find himself sent elsewhere either permanently, or on loan.
