Corriere dello Sport are reporting that negotiations for the renewal of Miroslav Klose’s contract will be finalised within the coming week. The announcement could come earlier than expected, perhaps even before Easter.
Despite the purchase of striker Filip Djordjevic from Nantes, who arrives in July, Lotito and Tare believe keeping Klose on for at least another season will be beneficial to everyone at the club.
"Next season Miro will again have several commitments at Lazio, which includes Serie A, the Italian Cup and European competition. Plus there is his national team. It is not easy to play so much at his age but in spite of everything he will be a key player for us who can always give a lot for the team", stated Tare.
The report suggests the club has offered Klose an extended one year contract, with an option for another season. A two year deal has not been excluded, however it is widely believed Lotito and Tare would prefer to offer the German a one year contract and then evaluate things at the end of the 2014/15 season.
The club has two other senior players winding down their current deals, in Stefano Mauri and Andre Dias. Lotito has stated he will only make a decision on Mauri and Dias in the coming weeks once the season has concluded. It is believed that failure to qualify for the Europa League will heavily influence Lotito’s decision about extending their contracts.
