Antonio Candreva is now a stone’s throw away from history at Lazio.
Following his two goals against Torino he has now reached the record jointly set by Hernanes and Pavel Nedved. The record is 11 goals scored in a Serie A season by a midfielder at the club, and now Candreva is only one goal away from overtaking them both.
He was told of this at the beginning of his interview;
"It is a nice thing and an honour, but it is just about the team at the moment. I would rather hit the record with a win", stated Candreva.
"Europa League qualification remains our goal. There are still four games left and we will give it our all, but we need to find continuity. Parma and Milan are succeeding at the moment but the math says that we can still qualify, so nothing is lost", stated Candreva.
Lazio has received 8 red cards in Serie A this season and is only second behind Sampdoria (9). Candreva has had one dished out to him and was asked about this record the team collectively holds;
"There have been instances where the same challenge made to us has not been punished while we are penalised, but it is useless to complain now (speaking about Novaretti’s sending off)".
"Overall the game went well today but we should have won. We lost some of our concentration at important times and it cost us", concluded Candreva.
