  21/07/2014: Auronzo di Cadore: Day 10

The tenth day at Auronzo di Cadore sees Lazio welcome Indonesia U23s for the Roman side's first proper test of the pre-season campaign. Igli Tare and Stefano De Martino arrive in Belluno for the game, which sees Lazio wear their new third shirt for the first time with the one-off sponsorship from Indonesian travel agency, Alia Wisata emblazoned on the jersey. The teams were as follows;

1st half (4-3-3): Marchetti; Basta, Novaretti, Ciani, Braafheid; Cataldi, Elez, Mauri; Pereirinha, Keita, Cavanda

2nd half (4-3-3): Strakosha; Konko, Cana, Filippini, Radu; Antic, Ledesma, Vinicius; Felipe Anderson, Djordjevic, Oikonomidis

The game itself was nothing to write home about. A rather decent display from Lazio, but once again, the scoreline was underwhelming as Bruno Pereirinha and Filip Djordjevic scored in the 15th and 65th minute respectively for a comfortable win.

Indonesia U23s were very negative and looked as though they wanted to keep the score down on a great occasion against stiff opposition. They did attack, but could not muster any real goalscoring opportunities and therefore Pioli could not put his counter-attacking brand of football to the test. In fact, Pioli seemed to anticipate this style and set his team up to dominate, playing with a high line. The friendly was surely a good experience and the manager will undoubtedly have learned that Lazio will need to more clinical against defensive teams when the Serie A campaign begins.

That being said, Keita Balde Diao could have had three of four, as he missed from the penalty spot and found out that the woodwork would not be his friend for the evening. Some guilt-edge chances also went begging during the game, and these would be inexcusable misses in a competitive tie.

Clearly, there is more work to be done but the work certainly does not stop here. It is being reported that Joseph-Marie Minala and Mamadou Tounkara will train this week in Auronzo di Cadore having had their punishments revoked by Igli Tare. It may be the case that Pioli requires these additions to his squad as an injury to Antonio Rozzi has left the attack looking thin, and has forced Pioli to use Cavanda as a winger and Keita as a striker.
