23/07/2014: Astori signs Cagliari deal... to join Roma!
email print

Cagliari announced earlier this evening that Davide Astori had signed a three-year deal with the Sardinians keeping him at the club until 2018, but according to Sky Italia, Astori is actually set to join Roma.

Cagliari's deal with Roma is said to be around 8 million euro - initially a loan deal with a mandatory buyout clause.

It is now being speculated in the media that Astori only signed the contract extension to join Roma. Lega Serie A rules forbid clubs from loaning out players if they are in the last year of their contract, therefore Astori had no choice but to sign a new deal with Cagliari to facilitate the move to Roma.
