20/08/2014: Gonzalez absent as Perea returns

Alvaro Gonzalez failed to turn up for training yesterday. The 29 year-old Uruguayan midfielder has been linked to a move away from the club, with England touted as the most likely destination although there now appears to be interest from Germany and the Middle East.

It is not clear if Gonzalez's family issue remains, or if the player is in conflict with the club and is set to be transferred. He did participate in Lazio's 16-0 thrashing of Sporting Fiumicino at the weekend, but it seems clear that he is behind Marco Parolo and the emerging talents of Ogenyi Onazi and Danilo Cataldi in the midfield pecking order.

In other news, Brayan Perea has returned to Lazio. The Colombian forward fractured his tibula in the final training session of the 2013/14 season and had requested to rehabilitate with his former club Deportivo Cali. Clinical assessments showed him to be fully recovered, and his pre-season training campaign begins now although it will be 3-4 weeks before he is ready for first team action.

Abdoulay Konko was also assessed by the club as he has been experiencing pain in his back. He has been advised to rest for a few days, but will be able to train before the end of the week. He could miss the Coppa Italia encounter with Bassano Virtus as a precaution.
