The Curva Nord supporters are to return to the Stadio Olimpico this weekend against Cesena, following a long lasting strike against President Claudio Lotito.
Some of the squad players and coaching staff have gone on a tour of the many Lazio stores around Rome yesterday to embrace the supporters as a result of this announcement. Stefano Pioli and the Team Manager Mauricio Manzini came along as part of the staff, while the players on show were Stefano Mauri, Balde Keita, Lucas Biglia, Filip Djordjevic, Dusan Basta, Mamadou Tounkara, and Santiago Gentiletti. Olympia and her trainer Juan Bernabe were also present.
Following the opening day 3-1 defeat against AC Milan, the players have expressed their willingness to begin the best way possible at home against Cesena on Sunday. In front of the Curva Nord supporters the players are feeling the excitement – an excitement which has been missing for a majority of the second half of last season’s home games.
"We did not start the way we wanted to because in episodes against Milan we were not rewarded for our efforts, but the team is together and ready to show our talent against Cesena. Fans expect certain things of us, as do we, and we are working hard towards this. We hope to make them happy”, said Pioli.
"A lot of fans showed up today and there is always a pleasure in this. We see so much passion in their eyes and they said they will be at the stadium so I am already looking forward to this game. We will go for the right result for them. They will be our twelfth man on the field and are essential to the team”, stated Mauri."We want the fans to come back to the stadium and we want to make them happy and proud. Sunday's game begins now with their affection and passion”, concluded Biglia.
