31/10/2014: Mauri and Cana set to return
email print

Stefano Salvatori has confirmed on LazioStyle Radio that Stefano Mauri and Lorik Cana will return to action on Monday.

Mauri was prevented from participating in the Verona game as CONI - the Italian National Olympic Committee - felt that there was a possibility he could fail a drugs test as a result of the medication he was prescribed for his tonsilitis. Salvatori confirmed Cana was left in Rome in order to get him 100% for Cagliari.

Keita Balde Diao and Dusan Basta are not set to return for another week or two. Both could be readied for Empoli if needed, but the club are keen to allow them a couple of weeks and the international break to get themselves back into shape. This is a concern for Basta in particular, with Salvatori acknowledging that if the club bring him back into the fold ahead of international fixtures in two weeks time, there's every chance he will go on international duty and need a rest down the line.

Abdoulay Konko has inflammation in his foot. At the present time, he looks set to sit out the Cagliari game but the club will test him in training in the hope that he can recover on time. Stefan Radu sat out training this morning, but according to Salvatori, that was to give him a break and he will be ready come Monday.
