10/12/2014: Gabbiadini turned down Lazio move

In an interview with solonapoli.com, Atalanta's Director of Sport Pierpaolo Marino suggests that Manolo Gabbiadini turned down the opportunity to join Lazio in the summer of 2013:

"How did he arrive at Sampdoria? It happened after the season with Bologna. I was dealing with Lazio but they did not offer more than 5 million. Sampdoria went to five-and-a-half but it was the player and his agent who preferred Genoa."

Manolo Gabbiadini's name has been in the media in recent months as a possible replacement for Keita Balde Diao, should the Spanish forward move elsewhere. In the last few days, however, speculation has been rife that Gabbiadini will move to Napoli in January.

Lazio were thought to have a chance at landing Manolo Gabbiadini in the future given he played under Stefano Pioli at Bologna, but this revelation suggests the 23 year-old was struck off the shortlist long ago.
