13/01/2015: Pioli: 'Blame me for Inter, but not Roma'

Here are a selection of quotes from Stefano Pioli and points that the manager made in his press conference earlier today.

On Lazio's performance level:

"People speak little of continuity, but there is a fact that should bring thought. In the first four rounds, we collected only 3 points. This means in the rounds since, we have collected the same points as Roma, and only three less than Juventus. This means we are showing quality and can grow and collect more wins."

On Felipe Anderson:

"He has recovered from the bruise and has trained with the team today. The other story [his father's arrest for murder in Brazil] is a private matter, but he will be available tomorrow night, with us."

On Lazio's inability to keep the lead:

"The numbers suggest this is an issue. We want to improve, but the second half against Inter was very different to that with Roma. There, we thought it was right to defend the result, but wrong approach. In the derby, we tried to see it to the end. If we could keep the standard of the first halves, this is not Lazio, but Bayern Munich. There are so many things about this team that we can improve."

Other points made:

Pioli has stated that Stefan De Vrij will definitely miss Torino as will Stefano Mauri, who is suffering from fatigue.

The manager has also suggested that he will have one eye on the Napoli game as he prepares for Torino.

He has confirmed that Danilo Cataldi will make his Lazio debut while Etrit Berisha will be in goal in preparation for Napoli, as Federico Marchetti will be unavailable due to suspension.

He has suggested that Keita Balde Diao and Miroslav Klose will start and he sees it as an opportunity for them to "embarrass" him.

Pioli said it is fine if he receives all the criticism for Lazio's results as he has "little hair, is grey, and has broad shoulders." He would prefer if the players were spared and allowed to play with confidence.

Pioli accepted that dropping two points against Inter was his fault, but insisted losing the points against Roma was just football.
