Mauricio dos Santos Nascimento was presented earlier today in front of the journalist as Lazio’s new signing and here is what the 26 year old Brazilian had to say at the press conference:

“I thank God, the president and the coach for having faith in me. I’ve dreamed as a child to play some day in Italy. I have a winning character and I hope to succeed a lot with Lazio”.

What do you expect from this new adventure?

“I want to help the team, add some of my experience and win with Lazio”.

Have you spoken to anyone in the team?

“I met the coach before the press conference and we will talk more later on. After lunch I will attend my first training session”.

What is your opinion of the club? Have you seen any games this season?

“My first impressions are very good. I personally know Felipe Anderson. Playing alongside Klose and Mauri is a dream come true”.

Do you think that the team can finish in top 3?

“We want that third place. Lazio is a team with great history. Our main goal is to keep improving day by day and maybe we can even fight for second and first place”.

Have you heard about the Derby?

“Of course, it’s one of the biggest and famous derbies in the world. I’ve played in similar derbies in Brazil as Palmeiras – Corinthians. I hope to play in the next game against Roma and win”.

Where do you prefer to play? Who inspires you?

“I’m a central defender from my childhood. I’d like to become as Andre Dias who is highly respected in Brazil. I hope that I can follow his footsteps. Thiago Silva and David Luiz are my biggest inspirations”.

Do you think that the level of Italian football is still high?

“Yes I do. I had other proposals but I chose Italy. There are aggressive players in Italy. I hope to make history with Lazio”.

Have you chosen a number to wear?

“Yes, 33. This is a special number for me because I started my career with it”.

Have you talked to Dias?

“I haven’t had the opportunity to speak with Dias but I will surely give him a call”.

Tell us more about your skills?

“I am a tall defender, I have good speed so I’m suitable to play as a full back as well. When I have the chance I always try to help my team in attack. I also have good areal abilities. I will mainly help the team in defence and if I have chances I will try and do that in attack with some goals”.

Are you ready for Milan?

“Physically I am ready. I was training every day in Lisbon. I don’t know if I will play on Saturday. The coach will make this decision”.
