Two years ago, on a Wednesday evening, Lazio edged past Sampdoria in a penalty shootout, to obtain her 5th Coppa Italia victory.
The final was played in the Olimpico in Rome, so Lazio was like playing a home game, with 60.000 laziali in the stands, and 20.000 doriani in the Curva Sud.
After 90 minutes the game stayed with a 1-1 score.
First Mauro Zarate opened the scoring in the 4th minute, when he cut in from the left wing, sprinted across the defence and blasted a shot past Sampdoria goalkeeper Castellazzi.
Later Castellazzi stopped Delio Rossi's team from doubling its lead. First, he saved Kolarov's powerful shot and recovered to block Pandev's rebound attempt.
But before the break, Sampdoria equalised through a Pazzini header beating Zarate.
Extra time did not change things at Olympic Stadium in Rome.
In the penalty shootout, Cassano and Campagnaro missed their penalties, while Lazio's Rocchi hit the post.
But midfielder Dabo converted the deciding penalty for Lazio to win the shootout 6-5.
