18/06/2011: Kolarov: "Lazio fans will always be in my heart"
email print
In a revealing interview with Radio Sei, Aleksandar Kolarov fondly discussed life at Lazio and spoke of a possible return in the future among many, many other topics. Here is a selection of quotes extracted from the interview:

"I was happy in Italy and would like to return one day, maybe with Lazio."

"I already knew that Lazio had a strong squad, we had many issues last year and struggled to avoid relegation but that was not true the value of the team. I knew this season that the team could make the Champions League and then came a player of Hernanes' calibre. I was hurt when Lazio lost in Udine, a step more and they were there but Europa League qualification still represents a great championship."

"I read about Lulic. I know he had a medical and is now a Lazio player. I don't know much about him, I only know that he is Bosnian and speaks my language. I hope he is better than me, for Lazio."

Kolarov remains a close friend of Stefan Radu and gave some indication as to what was on the Romanian's mind:

"I spoke with Stefan a week ago and we discussed the contract issue without speaking about the actual contract. I learned about the extension yesterday. I know he is happy, he wanted this and I am happy for Lazio that they have one of the strongest defenders available. I saw him play on the left this season, he sometimes told me that he felt he was not able to play in that position but I told him not to worry and that he had the ability to play anywhere. I think he is one of the strongest defenders in the league."

Kolarov finished the interview by saying hello to his friends in Rome:

"I would like to greet all the people in Rome, I know there are many there who love me. The Lazio fans will always be in my heart."

Very nice words! At the end of his stay here I was hesitant about his mentality and his appreciation of the atmosphere, but every time he talks about our club after his transfer it appears he realizes that Lazio is more than just any club.
