22/06/2011: Rossi: "Reja asked me for advice on Zarate"
email print

Delio Rossi has told Tuttosport that Edy Reja did indeed ask him for advice about Mauro Zarate. It had been reported that Reja contacted the ex-Lazio boss in recent months to speak about the Argentine but Rossi has said that this correspondence goes back much further; in fact, as soon as Reja had taken the mantle at Lazio, he had a hold of the telephone. Rossi said the following:

"I am fond of Zarate, although I did not coach him for long. Before going to Lazio and during the league campaign, Edy Reja asked me how I had treated Zarate. I told him a few things but I think Edy did his own thing and it worked well. Edy is an experienced coach."

"I think Zarate's position needs to be evaluated and if he is considered to be essential, the optimum conditions must be in place to give him the best chance. If not, then a change is necessary."
