  22/06/2011: Cisse waves goodbye

Djibril Cisse has said effectively said goodbye to Panathanaikos fans today:

"If I decide to leave, I will always remember the Panathanaikos fans and one day I will return here."

The news emerges as the club have finally admitted that they need to sell their star player:

"Negotiations with Lazio do exist, we cannot deny this any further", said Dimitris Gontikas, the club's president. "We cannot go on without selling one of our best, with the economy of the country in this state, we must sacrifice one of our stars and invest in someone young with good prospects instead."

Cisse has also been linked heavily with Premier League side Everton. At this stage though, Lazio are firm favourites as the player, if not his wife, wants to experience calcio.

It has been reported frequently that Sergio Floccari will make way to allow Djibril Cisse's arrival. Parma have been following the Calabrian forward for years and yesterday, Sergio's agent admitted that negotiations were progressing well. However, the agent has since backtracked and opened up his client for a move to league rivals Napoli.

If Napoli were to enter the race, they would surely become the frontrunners. An interesting side story is Parma's admission that Napoli have offered 7 million euro for Parma midfielder Blerim Dzemaili. This money could in turn be used to purchase Floccari outright.

La Repubblica have also noted Lazio's rumoured pursuit of Marco Parolo and have indicated that the Roman club may offer Foggia and cash in exchange in light of Cesena's purchase of Parolo's rights earlier today.
