19/07/2011: Zarate, Pjanic and other news...

Today reports have emerged that Mauro Zarate could be on his way out of Lazio. The Argentine has been placed down the pecking order after the signings of Cisse and Klose.  Sportitalia believe that he is a step away from French big spenders PSG. Further fuel has been added to the fire after Mauro was placed into training with the reserves today at Auronzo.

Meanwhile Lazio continue their interest in Bosnian and Lyon midfielder Miralem Pjanic. Lyon are believed to be ready to listen to offers for many of their players but a stumbling point could be the asking price. It is reported that a bid of at least 12 million Euros will be enough to convince Lyon to sell, while Pjanic's father hinted to the Corriere dello Sport that things are in motion for a transfer: "We must talk to the leaders of Lyon to assess the future, there are deals ready in Europe but for the moment there is no rush." One thing is for certain that Lazio will have to trim the squad down before making more signings.

In other news Arsenal seem to have swooped for Lazio target Joel Campbell of Deportivo Saprissa. The deal was struck for 1 million Euros. Arsenal beat Lazio to the transfer due to Lazio's current squad-size problem.

I wish Reja would show Zarate he is wanted and stop all this talk of him leaving. It does't make sense to rely on 3 or 4 30+ strikers and Kozak - we need something different and that is provided by Maurito.

I totally agree with you. In his first season he got a lot of trust from Delio Rossi and was one of the best forwards in the league. But the last two seasons he has been played out of position and sometimes even left out the starting line up.
