Former Lazio goalkeeper Fernando Muslera claimed today that he would have liked to stay in Rome but left for professional reasons.

Muslera, now at Galatasaray, left Lazio after an ultimatum for a pay increase despite already being one the top earners at the club. Contract negotiations broke down and the player, under the guidance of his agent Daniel Fonseca, decided to leave.

"I lived in Rome for four years and I would have liked to stay at Lazio. I tried to solve the problem, but for professional reasons I left".

Muslera was replaced by Italian internantion Federico Marchetti.
