After Saturday's 4-1 victory over Cluj, Lazio travelled on Sunday to Rieti to encouter the Greeks of Aris Saloniki.
Coach Reja sent out a completely new team onto the Rieti pitch.
In goal Bizzarri, then Zauri, Diakite, Dias and Garrido as the defensive four.
On the midfield Cana and Ledesma. With Cissè, Mauri and Lulic backing up the captain Rocchi in front.
The start of the game saw Aris in control, but Bizzarri stood firm on a Faty header.
Slowly Lazio regained the pitch, first Cissé shot wide.
Then Rocchi missed from close range, he shoots over.
But in the 22th minute Lazio took the lead. A perfect cross from Ledesma finds Mauri inside the box.
Mauri sees Rocchi free at the back post, and a simple pass finds Rocchi's right foot for the first goal, 1-0.
Then another Cissé shot almost beat the Aris goalkeeper, but the Frenchman was offside.
But Cissé finds the net eventually, as a 33rd minute corner finds him at the first post jumping over everyone.
His header beat all the Greek defenders to give Lazio a deserved 2-0 lead into the half-time break.
In the second half, coach Reja didn't make any changes so the same eleven stayed on the pitch.
And within 30 seconds, Rocchi was brought down inside the box, giving Lazio a penalty kick.
Cissé behind the ball, but his shot was like a rocket, going over the goal into the Rieti sky.
The second half gave us less emotion, Lazio controlled the game and Aris made so many changes that they never found their rhythm.
At the end some substitutions, giving Del Nero and Foggia some playing time, for Rocchi and Lulic.
And later on, the exit of Cissé for Kozak.
Then the final whistle, the second victory in two days with a completely different team.
For coach Reja the last game to see how the puzzle will fit for Thursday's presentation game against Real Sociedad, as Lazio turns back home to Rome.
This season Lazioland.com will be providing player ratings based on the collective opinion of several contributors. The players are rated between 1-10, where 6 represents “Satisfactory”.
Today’s ratings are made by Eivind Ytreland and Juan Botello:
Del Nero: 6
Man of the match: Tommaso Rocchi
Rocchi showed he still has it today with a well taken goal following a great Mauri assist. Rocchi earned the team a penalty early in the second half that was wasted by Cisse. Over all good active display from Tomasso who got himself an ovation when replaced by Del Nero.
Flop of the match: Albano Bizzari
Quiet night for the argentinian goalkeeper. Didn't have to do many saves but struggled a bit handling the opponents crosses and set pieces.
