10/08/2011: Lazio plans a late swoop for Biondini

President Claudio Lotito is studying the possibilities of landing Davide Biondini (28) from Cagliari, according to www.corrieredellosport.it. The midfielder is in bad relations with the Cagliari administration and has not renewed his contract. His current deal expires in 2012.  And with the fans becoming more frustrated from the situation Biondini is edging closer to a move from his current club. President Cellino, on the other hand, is not ready to let the player go for free. The bad relation between the presidents may not be a problem and Lazio could launch an assault on the player.

Edy Reja has a soft spot for Biondini and the midfielder would be a good addition to the squad, as Lazio will take on three competitions this season - Seria A, Coppa Italia and Europe League. Cagliari tried several times to tie the player with a contract, but they did not manage do reach an agreement. If Claudio Lotito decides to make a bid it will be no sooner than late August. Mark Bresciano has signed with Al-Nasr, but his departure is not enough as the Biancocelesti need to offload more players. The current group count is 34 with the youngsters Cavanda and Ceccarelli, and with Alvaro Gonzalez and J.P. Carrizo returning from Coppa America. Biondini's price on paper is 5 million, bit with his deal expiring next summer the price can be lowered.

The following weeks will be decisive for the Lazio midfield as Parolo is considered an option again, although he renewed with Cesena. Panagiotis Kone is another player, that can find himself with the Romans by the end of the transfer window.
