  11/08/2011: Lazio women snap up their own 'Couto'

Lazio Femminile proudly welcomed Portuguese star Carla Sofia Basilio Couto today. The 11 time Portuguese champion was welcomed at Fiumicino by president Elisabetta Cortani, technical director Roberto Piras and captain Valentina Lanziera. Couto has spent most of her career in Portugal but also had spells in Norway, China and at Arsenal.

"I'm happy to come and play in Italy, espescially in a prestigious club like Lazio" said Couto after signing the contract. She will join the team at the camp in Fiuggi scheduled from 28th August to 10th September.

Societa Sportiva Lazio Calcio Femminile where founded in 1969 and have a strong history which boasts 5 Scudetti, 4 Coppa Italia's and 1 Europa League. The last league title was won in 2002 but the team were relegated a few seasons later but have returned to Serie A since. They finished 12th last season.
