06/10/2011: Barcelona remain keen on Radu
email print

The Spanish media report that Barcelona are interested in Lazio defender Stefan Radu. The rather diminutive Romanian, who features predominantly as a left-back nowadays has only just returned to action following a spell on the sidelines but Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has been an admirer for quite some time.

It appears as though Radu is thought of as a long-term replacement for Gabriel Milito and a player who can give depth and versatility to the club's ranks. As a result, the transfer is mooted for next summer as opposed to January when the transfer window officially reopens.

For Barcelona, the obvious stumbling block is the transfer fee. 20 million is the price that is supposedly on Radu and the Spanish club will be well aware that negotiating with Lotito is neither a quick or easy process. Nevertheless, that could be the next course of action in this saga.

Radu pledged his future to Lazio in the summer by signing a new contract and according to his agent, he wishes to remain in Rome for the duration of his career.
