Swindon Town boss Paolo Di Canio completed a half marathon over the weekend having taken a wrong turn. The Lazio icon was scheduled to sound the horn to start the event and then participate in a two mile fun run, but the controversial coach took a wrong turn and ended up running an additional eleven miles.

Di Canio crossed the line in one hour and 49 minutes.

Speaking to the BBC, Di Canio said the following:

"I couldn't stop, there was a challenge. There were three options, I thought we should start with the fun run but unfortunately we changed direction, kept going and followed the first group."

"Unfortunately, I ended up doing a full half marathon and 800 metres. At the end I was very happy because I finished without stopping, not even for one second. i wasn't ready, but I never stopped running."

"I'm very happy, but it was very tough."
