02/11/2011: Cana: "I have struggled, but I can improve"

With most of the new signings settled and playing regularly for the club there is still one big question mark. The albanian Lorik Cana has struggled so far, but is optimistic about his future at the club. Ahead of the match against Zurich in Rome Cana joined his coach Edy Reja in the press conference at Formello: "I feel good in Rome. The environment is good in the organization, and in the team. The relationship with the coach and the fans is also great. For us players, football is the most important thing but when we achieve results all is well."

Against Zurich Lorik Cana will mostly have a new chance to redeem himself, and is expected to start the match: "I have played in France, England, Turkey and several european countries but Italy is a new experience for me. The football here is of a high level, so far I have not shone but I know I can grow. I am in a good team and I feel I can contribute. During the week we have talking about playing me in the defence. I prefer to play in the midfield, where I have played most of my career, but defender is my second position and I will play there if the team needs me. If the coach wants me as a centreback tomorrow I am ready. If you look at the table in our group so far we have not done well, but we also know ourself that we have not played badly. If we had been more cynical we would have had more points. In Portugal we were unlucky. No there is no more excuses though, tomorrow we have to win."

When asked about the possibility of winning any titles this season Cana remains calm:

"I do not know, it is too early to say if you ask me. We do have a organized team that can do well. Last year we did finish at 5th place, then the squad have been improved with players of the highest level like Klose and Cissé. There are so many strong teams in the league, like Milan, Inter and Napoli, but this is a good thing for italian football. We hope to do well and having support from our fans is key for us."

It remains to see if Edy Reja will opt for Lorik Cana as a centreback or a midfielder against Zurich, but it is clear that the albanian has a point to proove.
