After finishing 5th last season, Lazio are automaticly qualified for the 1/8 finals this season. It has been clear for some time that Lazio will take on either Parma or Hellas Verona home at Olimpico.

Today, Hellas Verona had a tough challenge ahead. They travelled to Stadio Ennio Tardini in Parma. Parma had decided to rest some players, and started with Giovinco, Pelle & Zaccardo on the bench.

After 37 minutes Ferrari surprisingly gave Hellas Verona the lead, and in the 61st minute Gomez Taleb made it two. It did not help Parma to put their star man Giovinco in. Hellas Verona managed to hold on and will now travel to Olimpico in the next round to face their old friends Lazio.

Other 1/8-finals:

Juventus - Bologna
Roma - Fiorentina
Milan - Novara
Palermo - Siena
Udinese - Chievo
Inter - Chievo
Napoli - Cesena/Gubbio

If Lazio manage to knock out Hellas Verona, they will face the winner from Milan - Catania. And a good result there could result in a double derby match against Roma.
